O Grupo Independiente passa a ser sócio minoritário do Coxa e terá um assento no conselho da SAF, enquanto a Treecorp continua como proprietária. A gestão do futebol tem sido tocada pela OutField desde abril.

Os valores e o percentual exato da negociação não foram revelados.

– O movimento faz parte de uma decisão estratégica que visa a fortalecer o projeto esportivo e institucional do Coritiba, contando com o apoio do Grupo IDV, que contribuirá com conhecimento, metodologia e experiência – afirmou o clube, em nota.

A tratativa com o Grupo Independiente ganhou força no final de março deste ano. Enquanto a torcida ia na Avenida Faria Lima, em São Paulo, para protestar contra a SAF, dois dirigentes estavam longe dali.

O head esportivo, William Thomas, e Bruno D’Ancona, sócio-administrador da Treecorp, foram ao Equador para conhecer as instalações do Centro de Treinamento (CT) do clube equatoriano. Outro encontro entre diretores alviverdes e do conglomerado aconteceu no CT da Graciosa, do Coxa, em agosto.

Nessas reuniões, o grupo IDV pediu um levantamento da situação contábil e financeira da SAF do Coritiba para avaliar a aquisição de um percentual, que acabou concretizada no fim de 2025. Na época, a diretoria alviverde negou uma negociação e disse que ‘sondagens e conversas de diferentes grupos de investimento acontecem com frequência’.

Na escolha do novo técnico após a saída de Mozart, o grupo equatoriano tentou ’emplacar’ Renato Paiva, que já comandou o Independiente, além do Botafogo e Fortaleza. O treinador português rejeitou a ida, e o escolhido foi Fernando Seabra.

Vale destacar que a Treecorp, que comprou 90% da SAF do Coritiba no final de 2022, com a promessa de investimento de R$ 1,1 bilhão em 10 anos, continua como controladora.

Grupo Independiente del Valle

O Grupo Independiente é um conglomerado de clubes, com Independiente del Valle, do Equador, Numancia, da terceira divisão da Espanha, e Atlético Huila, da segunda divisão da Colômbia. O sub-20 do Independiente Juniors e o time feminino Independiente Dragonas também são filiais controladas.

O caso de maior sucesso é o Independiente del Valle, que foi comprado em 2007 na terceira divisão nacional e agora tem os títulos da Sul-Americana (2019 e 2022) e da Recopa Sul-Americana (2023), além da Liga (2021), da Taça (2022) do Equador e de um vice da Libertadores (2016). A formação de atletas, com a venda de cerca de 40 jogadores em 18 anos, gerou mais de R$ 500 milhões.

A gestão do conglomerado é feita pelo empresários Michel Deller e Franklin Tello. O primeiro atua nos setores imobiliário e de varejo, além de controlar a franquia do KFC no país, e é considerado um dos homens mais ricos do Equador. Já o segundo é o mandatário do clube equatoriano desde 2014 e trabalha com Deller nos outros negócios.

O elenco coxa-branca se reapresenta em 27 de dezembro, no CT da Graciosa, para iniciar a pré-temporada. O Coritiba estreia no Campeonato Paranaense em 7 de janeiro com um time sub-23, enquanto o grupo principal jogará a partir da terceira rodada. O clube também tem a Copa do Brasil e Brasileirão como calendário.

England’s death bowlers struggled with a wet ball at the end of their innings but Morgan downplayed the impact that the result of the toss and the loss of Jason Roy and Tymal Mills to injury had on the outcome.”I don’t think it [dew] was a huge impact,” he said. “Maybe a little bit, but the Black Caps have still outplayed us. We know the dew is around. We were still right in the game. I don’t think it was a major factor, maybe an advantage slightly but not a major factor.””I don’t think you can put a measure on missing a player. The United boss doesn’t start his job until next Monday, and any players arriving or leaving cannot happen until January, but it appears as though INEOS are getting their ducks in a row and are shortlisting players they are interested in ahead of the New Year and next summer.

Jarrad Branthwaite was a player of extreme interest to United during the summer, as they had two bids worth up to £50 million rejected by Everton. Now, according to a new report, United are plotting a fresh offer for Branthwaite, as they believe he would be the perfect fit in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.

This comes after it was reported that Harry Maguire is keen to reject any January transfers and fight for his place at Old Trafford. The 31-year-old is in the final year of his contract at United, and there is no indication that he will be offered a new deal, but he is set to reject any approaches in January and fight for his place, as the club do have the option to extend his deal by 12 months, and he believes that could happen.

Signing a new centre-back may be a priority for Amorim, but signing a new left-back or left-wing back seems more urgent, and therefore, that may explain why they are keen to land this £10 million-a-year player.

Man Utd plan to win race for Alphonso Davies

According to reports in Spain relayed by Football365, Manchester United are “determined” to sign Alphonso Davies by offering him a “huge deal”. The Bayern Munich defender is in the final year of his contract, and it looks unlikely he will sign a new one in Germany, meaning he can sign a pre-contract agreement with United in January to leave for free in the summer.

The Canada international, who earns £10m-a-year in Germany, has been at Bayern Munich since January 2019, when he joined from MLS side Vancouver. Davies has been an excellent signing for the German heavyweights, as shown last season, where he scored two goals and recorded six assists in 29 Bundesliga games.

The report states that United are determined to beat Real Madrid to the signing of the left-back. The Spanish giants are still considered the favourites to sign Davies, but the Red Devils want to “steal him” from the European champions.

It goes on to add that United’s growing interest in the defender could change Madrid’s chances of securing Davies’ signature. The Bayern Munich man is described as a “dream signing” for the Premier League side, and therefore, they are willing to offer him a huge deal to get a deal over the line.

Matthijs de Ligt and Antony currently earn similar salaries to Davies, so while there were intially reports that INEOS could turn to a cheaper option like Ben Chilwell, they certainly have a spot in their current wage structure for the speedy star if they decide he’s their top target.

A damning 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park handed Arsenal their second loss of the campaign and Eddie Howe’s first win since mid-September – a result which saw Liverpool gain a seven-point advantage over them at the top of the pile.

Even though it is still very early doors, this gap will still be difficult for Arteta’s side to overcome, especially considering Liverpool look near-unbeatable under new manager Arne Slot.

Arsenal were dealt more bad news on Monday when journalist Sami Mokbel revealed that Edu was set to leave his post as sporting director. The Brazilian brings an end to his five-year stay at the Emirates after playing a key role in Arsenal’s development, having worked in tandem with Arteta to transform the club back into an elite English side.

Edu oversaw the signings of key men like Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes to name a few, whilst also helping Arsenal in the managerial recruitment process to appoint Arteta as manager.

It is believed Edu is poised to link up with Greek tycoon Evangelos Marinakis, where he could take on a chief executive role in the day-to-day running of clubs under his ownership, like Nottingham Forest, Olympiacos and Rio Ave in Portugal.

There are suggestions that Arsenal chief Jason Ayto is a real candidate to replace Edu, with The Mirror journalist John Cross calling him an “obvious choice” for the role. Whoever the Kroenkes decide upon, it needs to be the right decision, and could prove pivotal to Arsenal’s long-term future.

Arteta shares "positive news" out of Arsenal ahead of Inter Milan

In the wake of a fair bit of bad news recently, Arteta has now shared a “positive” Arsenal update on Odegaard’s fitness.

The Norway star has been sidelined with ankle ligament damage since September, but he’s now on the verge of a return and back in full training with the squad, which will come as much-needed relief for Arsenal who are now set to welcome their captain back to the field very soon.

“The positive news is it’s great to have Martin back,” said Arteta in his pre-match press conference.

“He’s trained with us for the first time, a full session today. He felt good, it’s a bit earlier than we expected, but he wanted to be with the team, so we’ll decide tomorrow whether we use him, but at least it’s a big step that he’s travelled with us and is part of the team.”

The 25-year-old’s presence will be key in the title race and Europe, with Arsenal seriously missing Odegaard’s creativity in his absence. A return against Inter would be a spectacular sight, but if not, his Premier League return surely isn’t too far away now.
