West Ham United are interested in signing Edin Dzeko from AS Roma this summer and have agreed personal terms with the former Manchester City striker, per Il Tempo.
The Bosnia & Herzegovina international has reportedly been offered a two-year contract by the Hammers.
What’s the word?
The Hammers are seemingly looking to replenish their squad this summer and Dzeko is reportedly wanted by the club.
While the Irons have agreed terms with Dzeko, they have yet to seal a deal with the Italian club.
Il Tempo report that Roma are keen to recoup €20million (£17.2m) for a player who has spent four years in Serie A.
Dzeko joined Roma on loan in 2015 and the deal was made permanent a year later.
Across 171 appearances for the club, he has scored a total of 85 goals, while laying on 36 assists.
He has won 101 caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina, scoring 55 times.
A perfect Arnautovic replacement
Marko Arnautovic looks likely to depart the club in the summer. He signed a new contract in January but it contains a clause that allows him to leave if a bid of £45m is tabled by an interested party.
Of course, he flirted with a move to China in January and there is every chance that there could be a rekindling of that interest at the end of the season.
Dzeko is a player who would step into his shoes straight away.
He has Premier League experience, having won the title twice with City, and is a player adept at spearheading a forward line.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini has repeatedly experimented with a 4-1-4-1 formation and Dzeko is perhaps more suited to that system than Arnautovic.
The Bosnian is a strong forward presence, an excellent header of the ball and exhibits superb hold-up play.
Having agreed a deal with the striker, it’s time for West Ham to meet Roma’s valuation.

Reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League would be massive for the club, particularly with it coinciding with the opening of their new stadium. Ambitions are high, though injuries have left fans feeling hard done by as they look towards Wednesday’s second leg.
Yes, it’s unlucky they’ve picked them up at the wrong time, but they should have a squad capable of dealing with absences like Winks’. Indeed, Champions League opponents Manchester City – for example – have been without Benjamin Mendy and Kevin de Buyne nearly all season, but they’ve got a squad that means they’re still fighting for the quadruple.
Even City look tired now, and that proves how hard it is to play on all four fronts, but that’s what Spurs surely aim to do next year. Liverpool had to throw themselves out of the domestic cups to be in the position they’re in now, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side want to be bigger than that.
After all that hassle with the stadium, they have to be.
Having faith in the players they’ve already got only takes a club so far. Those players could be the best in the world, which they’re not, but no player can play every three days. They need back-up in midfield, up top and in defence, so Daniel Levy had better start putting his money into the team.
There needs to be one hell of a shopping list in the summer, but that’s what it’s going to take if Spurs are to achieve their ambition of becoming one of Europe’s most successful clubs in the next decade.

Liverpool fans on Twitter have been showing their frustration with Dejan Lovren after he was ruled out of Wednesday’s Champions League game against Porto due to illness.
Lovren has missed a whole host of games for Liverpool due to injury and illness this season, making only 14 appearances for the Reds in all competitions this season.
During Lovren’s absence, Joel Matip has firmly established himself as Virgil Van Dijk’s partner at the back and with Joe Gomez’s imminent return Lovren appears to be slipping down to fourth in the pecking order when it comes to Liverpool’s centre-halves.
As well as losing his place in the team he has seemingly lost the backing of the supporters. The Anfield faithful have become more and more frustrated with Lovren’s lack of fitness and certain sections of the fanbase are now calling for him to be sold this summer after his latest set back.

ونشرت صحيفة “آس” الإسبانية تصريحاته في المؤتمر الصحفي عقب المباراة وقال زيدان: “لم نعتقد أن هذا سيكون دراما، لكن فريقي أظهر أنه يعرفون كيف يتفاعل، اعتقدت أننا كنا جيدين للغاية في الشوط الأول، والألم الكبير هو أننا ارتكبنا خطأ فادح في كيفية استقبالنا لهدفهم الأول”.
وأضاف: “أداؤنا في الشوط الأول أفضل من الثاني، لقد فقدنا شيئًا ما، وعلينا أن نكون فخورين، حيث لم يكن من السهل البحث عن ردة فعل، وحتى مع نتيجة 2-0 كنا نؤمن بالخطة، وأعتقد بأننا استحقينا التعادل”.
وأردف: “لكن هذه النتيجة النهائية هي مجرد دليل آخر على شخصية فريقي، نلعب دائمًا من أجل الفوز وإظهار التوق للفوز، لم نكن سعداء بأي حال من الأحوال بالتعادل، لكن سعداء بالمجهود”.

وواصل زيدان: “لم نحول الاستحواذ إلى فرص مناسبة، ما سأستخلصه من هذه التجربة هو رد فعل هؤلاء اللاعبين، كانت هذه نقطة مهمة للغاية يجب تأمينها، ستكون هذه سنة صعبة على الجميع، لكنني فخور بفريقي الليلة”.
وعن الوضع في المجموعة وتذيل ريال مدريد للترتيب: “نعرف الوضع، كنا في نفس وضع العام الماضي، نحن نعلم أنه من خلال اللعب بهذه الطريقة سنخرج ما لدينا، في النهاية كان المجمل جيدًا جدًا، إنه أهم شيء، اعتقد الجميع أنه يمكنك التعادل والفوز”.
وأستطرد: “نحن نعرف المباريات التي لدينا، ولا نتوقف، هذا هو السبب في أنها ستكون سنة صعبة على الجميع، يجب أن نكون فخورين اليوم، 2-0 في ملعب صعب، العودة للمباراة وإحراز هدفين يعني شخصية الفريق، لقد استحقينا التعادل، سنبذل قصارى جهدنا من أجل التأهل، وأنا مقتنع بأننا سنجتاز المرحلة بالطبع”.
وعن دور راموس كمهاجم، أوضح زيدان: “نحن نعلم أنه في مواقف معينة يمكنه النهوض، لقد افتقرنا إلى ذلك، فهو يجلب دائمًا ميزة إضافية، داخل المنطقة يمكن أن يكون خطيرًا، أيضًا الضغط، لقد كان لدينا فاران، فالفيردي، لقد نجحنا، هذه عناصر لدينا ويجب علينا الاستفادة منها، علينا أن نلتزم بالانضباط، معتقدين أنه يمكننا العودة في المباراة وإظهار الشخصية، باللعب بهذه الطريقة سنحقق أشياء مهمة بالتأكيد”.
وعن مشاركة إيدين هازارد بعد غياب للإصابة، علّق: “لقد بدأ للتو اللعب، إنها أول مباراة له بعد فترة طويلة، كانت الخطة هي محاولة اللعب وشيئًا فشيئًا ما يتعين علينا القيام به، لا أعرف، سنرى كيف نلعب كل ثلاثة أيام”.

Brighton and Hove Albion centre-back Lewis Dunk produced a heroic display as his side suffered late heartbreak in their 1-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night, and his performance didn’t go unnoticed by Arsenal fans on Twitter.
For so long it looked as though the Seagulls were going to pick up a vital point in their Premier League survival bid – in a result that also would have helped the Gunners in their top-four bid – before they finally succumbed to Christian Eriksen’s 88th-minute winner.
Dunk certainly couldn’t have done any more in north London however, as the Seagulls skipper threw his body on the line time and time again for his team as Eriksen, Dele Alli, Son Heung-Min and Lucas Moura all tried to find the net.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s defence has been inconsistent at times again this term – as shown by the 3-2 defeat against Crystal Palace on Sunday – with Shkodran Mustafi one of the players who seems to continually flatter to deceive and be the brunt of criticism from the Emirates Stadium faithful on social media.
Some Gunners supporters obviously feel that the heart of their backline is an area manager Unai Emery should look to strengthen during the close-season, with the fans below believing that the 6 ft 4 Brighton leader would be a good addition.

On Saturday, QPR’s final outing at Loftus Road aptly summed up their whole campaign, as they slumped to another defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest, with Karim Ansarifard netting the only goal of the game before the hour mark.
The R’s resurgence in a 4-0 victory over Swansea a couple of weeks back seems to have been cut – very – short and they have now returned to the ways which have seen them slide down the table. The Hoops might be safe but the fans surely can’t wait for the final whistle at Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.
