A number of Liverpool supporters have bemoaned Fabrizio Romano’s update on the Reds’ hopes of signing Italy star Federico Chiesa.

Jurgen Klopp is hopefully eyeing up another attacking signing this summer, in order to make his squad even more formidable.

On Thursday MacGill, 37, will re-start his Test career after wrist surgery and Ponting is confident he will solve Australia’s slow bowling problems.”If his body stays right there is no doubt that he is the best wicket-taking spinner in Australia,” Ponting said in the Australian. “So if he keeps himself fit and has the desire and passion to keep playing cricket then I’m pretty sure he would be good enough to get the Ashes job done.”Warne said he would consider a return only if “Stuey MacGill fell over and broke his leg, and there were no other spinners around”. As lembranças das finais do Campeonato Paulista de 1977 estão mais vivas do que nunca para Corinthians e Ponte Preta, que vão decidir o torneio após 40 anos do fim da fila corintiana. Logo após o conselho técnico que decidiu datas, horários e locais dos jogos decisivos do Estadual nesta segunda-feira, o assunto veio à tona durante as entrevistas coletivas dos presidentes Roberto de Andrade e Vanderlei Pereira, e um questionamento irritou o mandatário corintiano, justamente sobre o local das duas partidas.

Em 1977 e 1979, Corinthians e Ponte Preta decidiram o Campeonato Paulista no estádio do Morumbi, em três jogos cada ano. Antes das finais de 2017, Roberto de Andrade refutou a possibilidade de atuar novamente no estádio do São Paulo em nome dos confrontos em Moisés Lucarelli e Arena Corinthians.

-Por que Morumbi? Eu tenho estádio e é dez vezes melhor que o Morumbi. Acabamos de responder. Falei ontem (domingo) que se alguém propusesse eu falaria não. Podia ser dois jogos em Itaquera, no nosso estádio, dois jogos em qualquer lugar, menos os dois jogos no Morumbi – disse o mandatário, antes de citar algumas de suas lembranças do confronto de quatro décadas com a Macaca:

-É uma decisão depois de 40 anos histórica, eu na época tinha 17 anos, nunca tinha visto o Corinthians ser campeão. É muito representativo na minha vida. Logicamente que a Ponte não tem que ter lembrança mesmo, já que perdeu, pessoalmente é um motivo de bastante alegria, depois de 40 anos, reeditar a final.

Mohammad Asif will find out on Sunday whether he will be charged with possession of illegal substances or if he will be allowed to return home.Asif has been in detention at Dubai International Airport since June 1 after authorities allegedly found a banned substance in his wallet. He made a statement on Thursday in front of the chief prosecutor though still no charges have been laid against him.Sources close to the case confirmed to Cricinfo that the substance found in his wallet was a banned drug, though the urine tests conducted on Asif have come back negative.”The factual position is that at the moment he is under detention. Asif says he didn’t know how it got into his wallet,” a senior PCB official told PTI. “The prosecutor has to decide on Sunday if there is a strong enough case and evidence to try Asif for possession of drugs. He is now under the laws of Dubai and we are keeping our fingers crossed.”The PCB, it is learnt, is still working through diplomatic channels to have the case resolved as soon as possible, though no Pakistani government official has yet become involved in the matter.
