Indeed he should have resigned of his own volition when the new captain was appointed.”Lancashire have had a tense relationship with the ECB since missing out a 2009 Ashes Test and Cairns also hit out at the ECB’s dealings with Allen Stanford over the Super Series in Antigua. Although Stanford is believed to be on the brink of ending that event the ECB still hope he will back a Twenty20 triangular tournament at Lord’s this summer and field a team in the English Premier League starting in 2010.”I fail to understand how the decision to enter into a fairly long-standing contract with Sir Allen Stanford can be considered beneficial to either our game or reputation going forward,” Cairns added.

Aston Villa’s Matt Targett came under fire from fans during the first half of their clash with Manchester United on Saturday afternoon. 

Villa were looking to make it back-to-back Premier League wins after a second-half blitz saw them beat Everton 3-0 on home soil last weekend.

United, meanwhile, came into the game with four victories from their first five league matches, having snatched a dramatic victory away to West Ham United last time out.

The story of Targett’s first half

Dean Smith opted for a back three at Old Trafford, with Targett and Matty Cash operating as the two wing-backs.

The pair nearly combined for an opening goal as Cash fired it across the face, but Targett couldn’t keep his close-range shot under the bar. It classed as a ‘big chance’ for the visitors.

Targett’s SofaScore rating of 6.3 was the second-lowest among Villa’s outfielders (only Danny Ings’ score was poorer). He misplaced half of his eight attempted passes.

Na terça-feira, o diretor executivo de futebol Vinicius Pinotti embarcou para Florianópolis, adiantou o acerto em reunião com o técnico e retornou a São Paulo. Teve o aval de Leco para concluir a negociação na tarde desta quarta-feira.

A missão de Dorival Júnior no São Paulo será de colocar o clube nas primeiras posições do Campeonato Brasileiro. Com Ceni, o time foi eliminado precocemente das Copas do Brasil e da Sul-Americana e caiu nas semifinais do Paulista diante do Corinthians. No Brasileiro, torneio que restou na temporada, está há seis rodadas sem vencer e ocupa a zona de rebaixamento, com 11 pontos em 11 jogos.

Leco nunca escondeu sua admiração por Dorival e pesa a favor dele o seu desempenho no Santos, não só por ter brigado por títulos nas duas últimas temporadas. O técnico assumiu a equipe litorânea no meio de 2015 na zona de rebaixamento, em situação bem similar à do Tricolor atualmente, e, ainda naquela temporada, foi finalista da Copa do Brasil com um futebol bastante elogiado. Na época, pegou o Santos na mesma 17ª colocação do Tricolor de agora e terminou em sétimo.

Dorival ganhou destaque no cenário nacional justamente no Peixe, em 2010. No comando da equipe que tinha Wesley, Ganso, Robinho e Neymar, foi campeão paulista e da Copa do Brasil com futebol muito ofensivo e vistoso. Deixou o clube naquele mesmo ano por conta de desavença com Neymar.

A última passagem dele pelo Santos acabou em 4 de junho, ao ser demitido pelo presidente Modesto Roma Jr. Desde então, estava desempregado e chegou a recusar convites de equipes de fora, de países periféricos. Animou-se com a procura do Tricolor e logo sinalizou que aceitaria a proposta. O São Paulo será o terceiro clube grande paulista de Dorival, que também teve passagem pelo Palmeiras, em 2014, quando assumiu para evitar o rebaixamento.

وأعلن برشلونة أمس الثلاثاء انضمام ليفاندوفسكي لأربعة مواسم قادمة بشرط جزائي في عقده يبلغ 500 مليون يورو، في صفقة كلفته 50 مليون يورو، بواقع 45 مليون يورو ثابتة و4 ملايين كمتغيرات، لضمه من بايرن ميونخ.

ونشرت صحيفة “سبورت” الإسبانية تصريحات ليفاندوفسكي وقال: “صباح الخير، شكرًا جزيلاً، اسمي روبرت، أنا من بولندا، أعيش في برشلونة، أنا سعيد جدًا لوجودي هنا، لقد كان من الصعب جدًا تحقيق ذلك، لكن في النهاية تم إنجاز الأمر، لدينا الكثير من العمل للقيام به”.

What’s the talk?

Former Scotland international Frank McAvennie has predicted that Rangers defender Connor Goldson will not be able to join a bigger club if he leaves Ibrox.

McAvennie has sent a warning to the defender and said that Gerrard should be making the point to him, amid reported interest from Premier League side West Ham.

He told Football Insider:

“He must think he deserves a better deal than everyone else. He has played well in a well-drilled defence, they work well together.

“I don’t think any of them are standout players, they just work so hard together, that’s why they were so good. He’s not as good as he thinks he is. I think he’s a cog rather than the star man. What is he demanding?

“Gerrard will be telling him that. If he leaves, he won’t find a bigger club, you know, get real.”

Fans would be buzzing

Steven Gerrard must now have a difficult conversation with Goldson in order to convince him to stay at the club in the long term. He must make a major call and tell the defender, to his face, that Rangers may be the best team he will ever play for, as McAvennie has predicted.

Whether or not Goldson can get a better move is irrelevant at the end of the day, Gerrard simply needs to state his case strong enough for the centre-back to believe it. He should be explaining to him how lucky he is to play, typically, in front of almost 50,000 fans every home game whilst competing for trophies year-in-year-out.

That may not be the case if he heads back down to England to join a team in midtable in the Premier League, for example.

Fans would be buzzing if this tactic managed to convince Goldson to put pen to paper. Back in February, Gerrard told The Scotsman: “Connor has been an absolute mountain for this team, a warrior.

“I can’t describe to you how well he has done for this team, not just in terms of what you have seen on the pitch but also his leadership on the inside of the club and his availability every single day.”

This shows how highly-valued the £27k-per-week beast is at Rangers, on and off the pitch with his leadership. He also played 38 Premiership matches for the Gers as they won the title last season, helping the team to keep an astonishing 26 clean sheets in that time.

Goldson averaged a phenomenal SofaScore rating of 7.39, showing that he was consistently brilliant at centre-back in the Premiership. This highlights how important he has been to Gerrard’s side and why fans would be delighted if he signed a contract extension to stay at Ibrox.
