On the eve of his 100th Test, Kumar Sangakkara has called on the ICC to do away with two-Test series, describing such scheduling as “unsatisfying”. The third Test against Australia at Colombo will offer Sangakkara and his team the chance to pull back a 1-0 deficit, but they have not always been so fortunate.As a stylish batsman, successful captain and articulate statesman for Sri Lankan cricket, Sangakkara said he had taken part in too many series where the narrative felt unduly clipped due to the lack of a third Test.One of his imponderables is the 2007 series in Australia, where the under-prepared visitors lost in Brisbane but then, through Sangakkara’s own majestic 192 in the second Test, pushed the hosts far further. The prospect of a third match might have made a significant change to the script.”It is unsatisfactory to play so many two-Test series,” Sangakkara told ESPNcricinfo. “As a country, to be measured up as a Test country, you need to keep playing three to five Test match series as much as you can.”I don’t think five Test series are attractive anymore to TV networks, but I think Test series should be a minimum of three matches. I hope the ICC can stipulate that, I don’t know if they can.”Among forthcoming series, Australia’s visit to South Africa has been cut to two Tests to accommodate the Twenty20 Champions League, a move that has already been heavily criticised for marginalising Test cricket.”Test cricket is still, to my mind, the most important form of the game out there,” Sangakkara said. “There’s nothing like it, there’s nothing that comes close to it. This is the only arena where you can really make your mark as a cricketer. If you are successful at Test cricket, that is all that matters I think.”Sri Lanka’s success since Sangakkara’s debut in 2000 has been charted largely under overseas coaches, including Tom Moody and Trevor Bayliss. However Sangakkara is fervent in his desire for a home-grown mentor to take the role full-time, and cited the former opening batsman Chandika Hathurusingha as an ideal candidate.”I think we have a great opportunity to have a completely Sri Lankan coaching unit. That will be amazing if we can do it,” Sangakkara said. “And we’ve had candidates the calibre of Chandika Hathurusingha, who is now the assistant coach for New South Wales. He has been a great loss to us.”He made an amazing contribution to our cricket, and he is an extremely capable coach. Rumesh Ratnayake has also been exemplary, unfortunately he has come at a time when we’ve had quite a bad series, but these two people have shown we have the quality in Sri Lanka to have a completely local coaching unit which we can be proud of, and second to none in the world.”At the same time if the administration and the captain also think a foreign coach is the way to go, that is also no problem, because there are many excellent coaches around the world … There is Graham Ford, Geoff Marsh and a lot of other coaches in the running for this job, they’re fantastic people, they’ve got great records and have proven themselves all over the world.”Any one of them would be a great addition to our cricket, but on a personal level, and it’s not a sentimental thing, I think we have the quality in Sri Lanka as well, unfortunately not in Sri Lanka now. One of them is outside coaching NSW, but we have the Sri Lankans capable of also being national coaches and doing a great job.”

Five dropped catches and four wickets summed up a profligate day for Pakistan, on which their bowlers toiled to create numerous chances only for their fielders – led by Mohammad Hafeez – to spill them. Kumar Sangakkara’s fighting century was the only positive for Sri Lanka, and his continued presence their only hope of saving the match.The bowlers created pressure and some panic but Sri Lanka emerged relatively unscathed, with Sangakkara and Pakistan’s fielders taking the match into a fifth day. After four catches had gone down during a 153-run second-wicket partnership that was beginning to hurt Pakistan, they were given an opening via Lahiru Thirimanne’s suicidal attempt at a second run. Thirimanne and Sangakkara had survived for more than 50 overs; Sri Lanka then lost three batsmen in little over ten, before an astonishing fifth let-off kept them afloat.Saeed Ajmal and Junaid Khan, who had both been denied by the slippery hands of Hafeez, took the fielders out of the equation, bowling Mahela Jayawardene and Tillakaratne Dilshan respectively for single-digit scores. An inside edge off an attempted cut against an offbreak accounted for Jayawardene while Dilshan drove loosely at one that sneaked through the gap between bat and pad.It was a characteristic burst from Pakistan after a period of frenzy before lunch when their fielding fell apart in a rush of squandered catches. It allowed Thirimanne and Sangakkara to survive a testing first session as the bowlers were let down three times by Hafeez, including twice off successive deliveries from Junaid.On a pitch that did not offer much even on the fourth day, the bowlers gave Sri Lanka a hard time, producing false shots, going past the outside edge and hitting the pads. The batsmen countered in their own ways, Thirimanne using the sweep to ward off Ajmal, Sangakkara playing straight, and nudging and cutting when the opportunities came.Junaid produced the first real chance off the last ball of the 27th over when he induced Thirimanne to edge an attempted drive. It went low to first slip where Hafeez grabbed at the ball and grassed it. Hafeez was to deny Junaid and reprieve Thirimanne again, off the next delivery. If anything, this one was easier. Thirimanne had another escape as lunch approached, when he cut Ajmal straight to the gully fielder, who backed away and was hit on the body. It was Hafeez yet again.Junaid was to suffer a third time when Younis Khan was unsure whether he had taken Sangakkara’s edge cleanly after diving forward at second slip. Younis let off Sangakkara once again before lunch, on 56, dropping a tough diving chance at slip off, ironically, Hafeez.Thirimanne could not capitalise on the good fortune but Sangakkara continued to resist, even as wickets fell. He used the abundant short deliveries to cut and steer for boundaries on the off side and kept nudging and clipping for runs on the leg. Pakistan fed his strengths throughout the day. Sangakkara looted 81 off 42 deliveries square on the off side and another 51 off 33 square on the leg. Yet another cut shot to the point boundary off Junaid earned him his 11th second-innings Test century, off 173 deliveries.Angelo Mathews could not reprise his first-innings salvage effort, though. Umar Gul – who hadn’t bowled after sending down four overs in the morning – trapped him leg-before off the first delivery with the second new ball, after having got Tharanga Paranavitana right away with the first last evening.Almost inevitably, Pakistan’s fielding came to haunt them again as substitute fielder Wahab Riaz put down a mistimed pull by Prasanna Jayawardene off a disgusted Gul. Jayawardene was also fortunate to get away with a close leg-before shout against Junaid but by the end, he had frustrated Pakistan along with Sangakkara for 125 deliveries.With Sangakkara’s effort beginning to rival Taufeeq Umar’s first-innings marathon, Pakistan had no one to blame but themselves for what could have been.

سبق وخُصم من يوفنتوس 15 نقطة بالفعل بسبب تضخيم قيمة التعاقدات وهو ما تم اعتباره مخالفات مالية لتعزيز مكاسب رأس المال للنادي الإيطالي.

ويوضح التقرير أن عقوبة خصم الـ 20 نقطة التي تنتظر يوفنتوس، ترجع إلى ما يسمى مناورات الأجور، وهي اتفاقيات بين النادي ولاعبيه فيما يتعلق برواتبهم أثناء فترة تفشي وباء كورونا.

يوفنتوس سبق وأعلن في بيانات رسمية أنه توصل لاتفاق مع لاعبيه على أن يتخلوا عن رواتبهم لمدة أربعة أشهر لمساعدة النادي خلال فترة وباء كورونا.

يوفنتوس يستأنف على قرار خصم الـ 15 نقطة، أمام اللجنة الأولمبية الوطنية الدولية.

جدير بالذكر أن يوفنتوس سبق وهبط لدوري الدرجة الثانية في عام 2006 فيما عُرف بقضية “الكالتشيو بولي”، المتعلقة بالتلاعب بنتائج مباريات الدوري، بالإضافة لسحب لقبي الدوري الإيطالي من الفريق لموسمي (2005-2006)، (2004-2005).

وبعد مرور تسع سنوات على تلك الواقعة، برأت المحكمة الرياضية الايطالية يوفنتوس من الاتهامات التي وجهت له حينها.

حصل لاعب فريق الهلال السعودي على بطاقة حمراء، خلال المباراة الجارية الآن ضد الوداد البيضاوي المغربي، ضمن منافسات بطولة كأس العالم للأندية.

Isso porque, segundo a última avaliação feita pela equipe médica em relação a sua lesão na coxa direita, ele ainda não reúne condições físicas de voltar a campo.

I’ve had to build up my training each week but I’m at the stage where I’ve been running for the last month and my strength work’s really gone up and I’m ok to bowl now.”Having taken 36 wickets in seven Tests since his return in Perth last year, Tremlett is targeting a return to Test cricket against Pakistan but knows there is no certainty of a slot in the team.”All fingers crossed I get through South Africa with no injury worries,” he said. “Hopefully I get selected on the tour. The diagnosis of my back was a bit more serious then I first thought. But at the same time it’s been nice to have a break and make sure I get everything right,” he said. “As a year as a whole it’s been great, obviously it was frustrating to miss out on the last few Test matches but now I’m just looking ahead, trying to be positive for next year.”England travel to UAE for a three-Test series against Pakistan in January, followed by four ODIs and three Twenty20s, before a two-Test series against Sri Lanka beginning at the end of March.

O Cruzeiro só tem a comemorar nesta quinta-feira. De virada, o time Celeste bateu o rival América-MG por 3 a 1, no Mineirão. O técnico Mano Menezes elogiou o apoio da torcida, mesmo no momento em que levou o primeiro gol da partida. Com isso, os gritos motivaram os jogadores que responderam em campo.

-Hoje o torcedor foi brilhante. Não estávamos falando de número de torcedores. Na segunda, a presença foi brilhante. Hoje, quando levamos o gol, o torcedor chamou para ele o que é mais importante, chamou a equipe – disse o técnico.

Mano também comentou sobre a estreia de Hernán Barcos. O comandante falou que o atacante é experiente, porém precisa se adaptar ainda as partidas e o ritmo do Brasileirão.

-Quando a condição legal veio, e com o que havíamos conversado sobre as condições do Barcos, era melhor estrear hoje. Ele ainda está com menos carga de trabalho em relação à nossa realidade. Jogou bem, é experiente. A bola na área é muito familiar para ele – opinou.

-Barcos é muito inteligente para fazer o pivô, fazer o giro e abrir espaço para os jogadores. Tecnicamente é muito bom e vamos ter que preencher o espaço para quando ele sair da área. Foi uma boa amostragem, saio contente com tudo o que o Cruzeiro fez hoje – complementou.

O comandante também falou da qualidade da equipe do Cruzeiro. Ele ressaltou a importância de rodar o time para que não seja surpreendido dentro das quatro linhas.

– A qualidade do elenco do Cruzeiro é incontestável. Não somos imbatíveis, não somos o melhor time, não somos o melhor elenco, mas temos um ótimo elenco. O adversário você o enfrenta e tenta vencer. Ao rodar o time, temos que nos adaptar às características – elogiou.

É um jogador que está se sentindo muito a vontade aqui no Cruzeiro. Cresceu muito técnica e taticamente. A preocupação sempre era um segundo ou terceiro meia em um dos lados do campo, porque o lado sempre é duro para o jogador.

MESCLAR O TIME
Quero mexer o menos possível para não descaracterizar a equipe. Só vou fazer isso em alguma situação específica. Meu objetivo na rodagem é que os jogadores tenham menos desgaste possível no número máximo de jogos.
