ووصل عدد أهداف هالاند حتى الآن إلى 26 في 24 مباراة فقط من البطولة، وهو مرشح لكسر الرقم القياسي لأكثر عدد أهداف في الدوري الإنجليزي برصيد 34 هدفًا باسم، آلان شيرر.

Jaffer maintained that winning the Ranji Trophy multiple times for Mumbai was what had given him more satisfaction than breaking the individual record.Muzumdar told fellow commentator Ajay Mehra on air that it was fitting that a Mumbai batsman had broken the record held by a Mumbai batsman and hoped that Jaffer would go on to score thousands of more runs in his career. Though Muzumdar had gone past the erstwhile record-holder Amarjit Kaypee while playing for Assam, he was a permanent fixture in the Mumbai line-up for 16 years till he moved to the eastern state for two seasons in 2009.Jaffer, who made his first-class debut at the Wankhede in 1996, has made all his Ranji runs playing for Mumbai, something he said he was proud of. Após ser uma das ‘febres’ da Copa do Mundo na Rússia, o VAR (termo em inglês para o árbitro de vídeo) finalmente foi confirmada pela Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF), que aprovou o uso da tecnologia para a fase de quartas de final, que começa na próxima quarta-feira, e nos estágios seguintes da Copa do Brasil.

Em sua sede na Barra da Tijuca, no Rio de Janeiro, a CBF, representada por Manoel Serapião, coordenador do sistema de árbitro de vídeo no Brasil, Ricardo Bretas, gerente de planejamento da tecnologia no país, e Sérgio Correa, presidente da comissão de arbitragem, explicou como o VAR vai funcionar na principal competição de cunho eliminatório do país.

O VAR havia sido cogitado no começo do ano, para os duelos do Campeonato Brasileiro, mas a CBF não quis arcar com os custos do equipamento e tentou encaminhar essa questão financeira aos clubes, mas a maioria também não quis pagar o valor (50 mil reais por jogo, de acordo com o órgão responsável pelo futebol no país).

Sérgio Correa explicou que terão entre 14 e 16 câmeras por jogo – bem longe do número da Copa do Mundo, que era entre 33 e 35 equipamentos – e que as imagens serão as mesmas das transmissões de Globo e Fox Sports, as duas empresas responsáveis pelos direitos de transmissão da competição, o que respeita ao protocolo da Fifa.

– Vamos utilizar 14, 15 ou 16 câmeras. São duas empresas, Globo e Fox. É bom esclarecer que com sete câmeras, já teremos 95% de todos os lances. Uma situação especial, uma mão escondida. Nós vamos recorrer a todas todas as imagens disponíveis. Temos solução para todos os lances – afirmou.

Algo que ainda gera muita dúvida são as situações que o árbitro de vídeo pode inteferir. Serapião deixou claro que o VAR age em situações capitais de um jogo, as que envolvem gols e cartões e não em qualquer lance que pode acontecer dentro das quatro linhas.

– Há limites. Todas as situações de gol, pênaltis, cartão vermelho e erro de identidade na aplicação do cartão ao jogador são para revisão. O árbitro de vídeo vai checar isso sempre. O que se busca corrigir são erros históricos. Em tiro de meta, lateral, por exemplo, o árbitro de vídeo não interfere – disse.

Sérgio Correa, por sua vez, mostra muita confiança sobre a entrada da tecnologia no país e está confiante em uma grande porcentagem de acertos nos lances. Essa será a primeira aparição do VAR em uma competição de cunho nacional no Brasil.

– Teremos 14 jogos, com grande possibilidade de chegar a 98,8% de acerto nos lances, contra 93% sem o VAR – afirmou.

O coordenador de arbitragem e do VAR no Brasil ainda completou, falando sobre a possibilidade da tecnologia entrar no Campeonato Brasileiro no futuro, se mostrando otimista sobre essa possibilidade.

– O planejamento da CBF está pronto para qualquer competição. Vamos trabalhar sempre pelo “sim”, para ter o VAR nas competições da CBF. Estamos trabalhando pelo sim. Se vier o “não”, continuaremos preparados, porque o VAR virá – completou.

A CBF também confirmou a escala dos árbitros de vídeo para as partidas entre Corinthians e Chapecoense, Grêmio e Flamengo, Bahia e Palmeiras e Santos e Cruzeiro. Confira a relação:

England’s first-class counties will play just 14 Championship games per season as the ECB Management Board looks set to ratify the vast majority of the Morgan Review at Lord’s on Thursday.Barring a major u-turn from the ECB, the changes will be implemented ahead of the 2014 season. Other features will include a return to 50-over List A cricket, a minimum 14 Twenty20 games per county and a cut in the level of the salary cap.While few counties are happy with the results, most seem willing to accept them. David Morgan, the former ICC and ECB chairman, consulted widely throughout 2011 and county officials have accepted, after years of prevarication, that the ECB needed to show leadership. Whether spectators, who have had little chance to put forward their views, accept the report so readily remains to be seen.The biggest winners of the Morgan Review are Team England. They were keen that the quantity of domestic cricket be reduced and keen that domestic limited-overs cricket should mirror the international game. It will be an irony lost on few that the Morgan was initially appointed in May to lead a review into “the business of county cricket.”Though Morgan presented his interim report in November to the widespread approval of the board, his full report will not be submitted until Thursday. After ratification, an almost inevitable event, the county chief executives will be invited for a meeting at Lord’s on January 23 to discuss the report’s implications. David Morgan will not be present, although he may join the meeting by video conference. As Dave Brooks, the chief executive of Sussex put it: “There will be no more consultation about the domestic structure.”Fundamental to the changes is the scheduling of the Champions League. The tournament, which has been allocated its own space in the ICC’s Future Tours Program, will, in most seasons, be staged from mid-September. That has created fixture congestion in the English domestic season and seen the season end almost two weeks earlier than previously.

وأوضح: “لا يمكننا الاستعداد لأشياء لم نشهدها من قبل، آمل فقط ألا تحدث مرة أخرى، كأس العالم في منتصف الموسم، لا نلوم على وضعنا ولكن على الوضع العام للاعبي كرة القدم”.

واختتم: “لا يمكننا إدخال المزيد من المباريات، لاعبو كرة القدم يتأثرون بشدة بجدول المواعيد، وهذا واضح”.

All Ranji Trophy matches from the 2012-13 season onwards will be played at neutral venues, the BCCI has decided. The decision, taken at the board’s working committee meeting in Chennai on Monday, will reduce home-team advantage in the Ranji Trophy by denying teams the opportunity to prepare pitches that suit their strengths.After the meeting, BCCI president N Srinivasan said there was no need yet for an inquiry into the Indian team’s poor form away from home. However, the board has taken some steps to develop cricket within the country, with the use of neutral venues for Ranji matches the biggest change.The BCCI had introduced neutral venues for Ranji knockout matches in the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons but the move was opposed by some senior players. Sanjay Bangar, an 18-year-old veteran of the Ranji circuit, said neutral venues would give domestic players experience in varied conditions.”It is a good move,” Bangar said. “It will ensure proper facilities for players from teams which can’t provide them at the moment. Also, it will give players the experience of playing in varied conditions. Right now, a Mumbai player plays half of his matches in Mumbai. So he is used to playing only in those conditions.It will also lead to better pitches. There is a lot of pressure on home associations to prepare pitches that suit the home team. It will involve logistical issues, but it is a risk worth taking.”Narendra Hirwani, the national selector (Central Zone) and former India legspinner, said having neutral venues would allow zonal curators more control. “Yes, it will be logistically more difficult but you have to endure some pain if you want to improve the game in the country,” he said. “It is practically not possible for zonal curators to oversee pitch preparation at so many home venues. Even if they go to all the venues, it is only for a few days.”We should ideally take this a step further and improve the standard of our practice pitches. They are of such a standard usually that a spinner does not have to make any effort to turn the ball on them. He is then found out in the actual game.”The board has also announced plans for a new academy in Bangalore, the location of the National Cricket Academy. “The process is on and the budget is in the range of Rs 100 crore,” Srinivasan said. There will also be India A and Under-19 tours of the West Indies, England, Australia and South Africa over the next few years. “It will start with the India A team touring West Indies in June,” Srinivasan said.

Unless New Zealand Cricket fashions a clear plan to help junior players move through the stages seamlessly, the team will be plagued with underachievement, according to Warren Lees, former national wicketkeeper and coach. Lees used Tim Southee, who was axed for the second Test, as a prime example of the increasing gap between rookie and veteran and how it will affect the country’s cricketing future.”I believe in having three groups as a cricket team. Everyone should start as an apprentice and then work their way into middle management and then become administration,” Lees told ESPNcricinfo during the first Test in Dunedin.”What’s wrong with the New Zealand team is that Tim Southee is in administration. He should be an apprentice. But, circumstances forced that on the team. Tim Southee isn’t the only one but he is an example and a glaring one. He should still be sitting in the corner with his hands in his lap and listening. Then, it should take five tours and two years before he moves up.”Southee was dropped from the New Zealand squad after a string of poor performances against South Africa. He has gone two matches wicket-less. He has also been expensive, lost his lines and with that, his self-belief. “Tim didn’t have the game of his life,” Ross Taylor, the New Zealand captain, said after the match, the first hint that Southee may be dropped. “He struggled a little bit with his action but he’s played a few Tests now. He’s a confidence player and hopefully he can bounce back from this.”The ability to recover and continue to the next phase of international cricket is something that Lees feels will only be possible if players have the right management and team-mates who are in various stages around them. In the past, he does not think New Zealand had a structure with these distinctions.Lees referred to his own coaching stint, between 1990 and 1993, and highlighted it as being the period in which the gap between the newest players and their seniors widened. He blamed the divide to the inability of players at the mid-level to take youngsters under their wing and help them assimilate.”New Zealand did reasonably well performance wise when they had [Nathan] Astle,[Chris] Cairns and [Craig] McMillan, but none of them wanted to take the management roles,” Lees said. “If you were a youngster getting into the team, none of those players offered anything. So there was this huge gap between Stephen Fleming and his seniors and the apprentices. We weren’t developing a culture for the future so when they left the team had no direction.”In recent months, New Zealand appear to have found a path and Lees hopes John Wright, the current coach who he played with, can keep them on it. He believes Wright will act as the bridge between players at different levels. “The one good thing about the team at the moment is that I can’t see too many of them retiring anytime soon,” Lees said. “Ok, Chris Martin has a limited life and Daniel Vettori is not going to be there forever, but he is not as effective as he was anyway. There’s a stronger promise of what could happen in the future. And I think John Wright is the right sort of person to bring that out.”With Wight’s commitment, Lees said the New Zealand team will not want for dedication or a desire to produce their best. “They may lose through a lack of skill but they won’t lose through a lack of effort,” he said. “We saw a bit of that in this game. The first day taught some of those bowlers quite a lot and as a group they grew through the mistakes of day one.
