Embora tenha somado mais um ponto fora de casa, algo sempre importante no Brasileirão por pontos corridos, o São Paulo não tem muito o que comemorar após o empate por 1 a 1 com o Paraná, nesta quarta. O único fator positivo foi a manutenção da liderança pela quarta rodada seguida, mas agora com apenas um ponto de vantagem sobre o Inter – eram três no início da rodada.

O Tricolor tem mais motivos para lamentar. Primeiro porque estava vencendo por 1 a 0 e cedeu o empate. Segundo que o adversário, embora não tenha feito um jogo ruim, é o lanterna da competição e não costuma tirar pontos de quem está lá em cima nem jogando em casa. Terceiro e mais importante para a sequência da competição: o nível de atuação caiu.

Apesar do gol de Nenê logo aos oito minutos e da bicicleta perigosa de Diego Souza pouco antes do gol do Paraná, o primeiro tempo não foi bom (Diego Aguirre concorda). O São Paulo teve grande dificuldade de ficar com a bola. Otime está acostumado a ter menos posse do que seus adversários, mas geralmente não corre muitos riscos e é letal nas jogadas velozes, justamente o contrário do que aconteceu nesta quarta. Parecia uma mistura de falta de concentração com relaxamento…

O segundo tempo foi melhor, já que o Tricolor conseguiu empurrar o Paraná para perto do gol defendido por Richard e criou uma porção de oportunidades para marcar o segundo. Não o fez por um centímetro aqui e outro acolá. Mas, ainda assim, o adversário teve muito espaço para contra-atacar e rondou a área perigosamente mais de uma vez.

É o fim do mundo? Não. O São Paulo continua na posição em que todos gostariam de estar e tem dois jogos em casa na sequência. O Brasileirão não admitirá novos vacilos.

Fica o alerta de que é preciso ter concentração máxima contra qualquer adversário, seja o segundo ou o último colocado. Domingo, no Morumbi lotado, será o 19º: o Ceará. No domingo seguinte, o Fluminense.

Depois de por um voto ter sido adiada a aprovação ou não de empréstimo de R$ 38 milhões no último dia 17, o Conselho Deliberativo (Code) do Vasco convocou reunião para a segunda tentativa de votação. Os conselheiros irão se reunir às 20h de quinta-feira, na sede náutica do clube, na Lagoa, para tratar sobre este assunto. O detalhe é que simultaneamente desta votação importante, o Cruz-Maltino entra em campo contra o América-MG, em Minas Gerais, pelo Campeonato Brasileiro.

Nos bastidores, a expectativa, agora, é pela aprovação do empréstimo sem maiores problemas. Um exemplo é o grupo “Casaca”, que votara pelo adiamento na primeira tentativa de empréstimo, que agora deve votar pela aprovação em sua totalidade. Isto por conta de o presidente Alexandre Campello ter desfeito um acordo no Tribunal de Justiça do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, que havia sido feito em maio deste ano, no qual retirava o título de benemérito a 28 sócios do clube, agraciados ano passado na gestão do ex-presidente Eurico Miranda – uma das condições políticas pelo voto dos partidários.

O que pode atrapalhar os planos pela aprovação é justamente o quórum. Por ser na mesma hora de um jogo do Vasco e véspera do feriado de 7 de setembro – Independência do Brasil -, há o temor de que muitos conselheiros não compareçam. Presidente do Conselho Deliberativo, Roberto Monteiro destacou no edital de convocação que se baseou nos artigos 81, inciso II, e 82 do estatuto do clube – eles afirmam que para abertura de créditos precisa de quórum de ao menos 151 conselheiros e aprovação com 2/3 dos votos – e não maioria.

Na primeira tentativa a votação foi adiada por apenas um voto de diferença – 89 a 88. O empréstimo de R$ 38 milhões é junto ao Banco Daycoval, com taxa de juros de 0,96% e como garantia foram oferecidos os direitos de transmissão dos jogos do Vasco junto ao Grupo Globo, de 2019 a 2023. Após a primeira votação, na saída da sede náutica do clube, o presidente Alexandre Campello e o presidente do Conselho de Beneméritos Eurico Miranda afirmaram ter tido fraude na apuração do resultado da votação.

Diretoria de Alexandre Campello enxerga como fundamental a aprovação do empréstimo para o equilíbrio financeiro do Vasco até o fim do ano. Na decisão da primeira votação, ficou-se a alegação é de que ainda se faz necessários esclarecimentos sobre a forma como o dinheiro do empréstimo será gasto. Desde então, reuniões com representantes de grupos de oposição, como o “Sempre Vasco”, liderado por Julio Brant, foram realizadas para estes esclarecimentos. O ex-candidato à presidência, vale destacar, foi bastante criticado por não ter ido à primeira votação por conta de ter viajado para fora do Brasil à trabalho.

The PCB’s plan, under former chairman Ijaz Butt, was to bring in only a head coach to replace Waqar Younis, who resigned due to health reasons. But the new chairman, Zaka Ashraf, planned to form a team of specialist coaching staff. Dav Whatmore and Julien Foutain were appointed head/batting and fielding coach respectively and Javed was to continue as bowling coach but the PCB received a blow when he decided to move to the UAE.There are five Pakistanis among the applicants. Kamal has recently ended a three-year head-coach contract with Bahrain Cricket Association. Azhar, who is currently working with the Pakistan Under-19 team, has ample experience in the country’s domestic circuit while Jalal-ud-Din took the first hat-trick in an ODI. Akram has been settled in England for some years now.It will be a tough task for the PCB to shortlist candidates from the eight applicants as the major requirement for the applicant is to have at least five years of experience in a similar role with elite cricketers. Most of the applicants don’t fulfill this requirement.

ومن ثم، فإن كاسيميرو سيغيب عن مباراة ربع نهائي كأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي ضد فولهام الأحد المقبل، ثم مواجهة نيوكاسل وبرينتفورد وإيفرتون في الدوري الإنجليزي خلال الشهر المقبل.

Ribeirão Preto vai ser o palco onde será definido o primeiro finalista da Série C do Campeonato Brasileiro. Botafogo-SP e Cuiabá jogam a segunda partida da semifinal neste sábado, às 17h. As equipes se enfrentaram no último domingo e ficaram apenas em um empate sem gols, deixando toda a emoção da decisão para a partida desta semana. Em caso de um novo empate, com o sem gols, a decisão irá para os pênaltis.

O Cuiabá, um time jovem, que está prestes a completar 17 anos, conseguiu seu primeiro acesso à Série B ao eliminar o Atlético-AC, na etapa quartas de final. A equipe venceu a primeira partida, na Arena Pantanal, por 2 a 0 e arrancou um empate em 2 a 2 na partida de volta. Na fase de grupos, conquistou a vaga para a fase final com três rodadas de antecedência.

Já o Botafogo-SP venceu o xará da Paraíba nos pênaltis para conseguir a classificação para a semifinal da competição. When they came back for the longest session of the day, Gloucestershire took control as Alex Gidman and Hamish Marshall produced their first meaningful innings’ of the season.Gloucestershire’s 296-run lead sets up the chance to win consecutive matches providing enough overs are possible on Sunday and their attack, shorn of David Payne, can squeeze out 10 wickets on a slowing, flattening surface.The best knock was played by the captain, Gidman, who more than doubled his previous best this season with an 84-ball half-century. Gidman is unlike his younger brother Will, who made a gritty 56 in the first innings, in that his runs are never ground out. Alex has to find flow to his innings to make runs. And that is just what he managed against a rather flat Kent attack as James Tredwell ‘s off-spin wheeled away at the Pavilion End and the seamers rotated from the Nackington Road End.The problem was an inability to create any kind of pressure. One lofted drive from Marshall was enough to persuade Tredwell to place long off and on back, deep midwicket soon followed and Gloucestershire merrily knocked the ball around: scoring at almost five-an-over in the final hour of the day. The field spread in similar fashion for the seamers too.The rate accelerated from the patient progress of Richard Coughtrie’s two-hour 40 but it was important for him to make a solid score.
