A masterful innings from Michael Klinger steered Adelaide Strikers to an important victory over Perth Scorchers. In front of a very vocal home crowd, Klinger produced an innings of supreme quality to guide his side to a tricky target of 160 with six balls to spare.For the third match in a row Klinger struck the first ball of the Strikers innings for four, a crisp cover drive off Michael Beer, to show how well he is hitting the ball.But unlike so many match-winning innings in this format, Klinger’s innings was not just a display of brutal power hitting. 44 of his unbeaten 86 came in boundaries as he manufactured nine twos on the unusual dimensions of the Adelaide Oval through pinpoint placement and hard running.Klinger had the perfect foil at the top of the order in Alex Hales. He blasted five fours and a six in his 20-ball 31 to get the chase off to a rollicking start. Klinger was just 9 not out when Hales miscued an on-drive to Simon Katich off Yasir Arafat.Klinger never panicked nor did he let the scoreboard stall at any point thereafter. Phil Hughes, Johan Botha, and Callum Ferguson scored just 24 runs between them from 28 deliveries through the middle of the innings but Klinger collected 46 from 36 at the other end without really taking a risk.Nathan Reardon joined Klinger with 44 required from 32 balls. They wisely saw off the spin of Brad Hogg, collecting just three singles and a two from his fourth over, before targeting the fast bowlers.Klinger crunched Nathan Coulter-Nile over cover for six to release the pressure. Reardon then bombed Alfonso Thomas into the midwicket stands to get the rate down to a run-a-ball. Klinger finished the job with two massive sixes off Arafat in the 19th over to close it out and send the Strikers to the top of the BBL table.Earlier their bowlers did a terrific job of containing the Scorchers batsmen after Katich won the toss.The innings got off to a disastrous start when Shaun Marsh took on the deadly arm of Johan Botha at mid-off and was run out in the second over.A mixture of spin and guile from Botha and Adam Zampa and raw pace from Shaun Tait saw the Scorchers slump to 5 for 96. Michael Neser then delivered a double-wicket maiden in the 16th over to cripple the innings further.But some late hitting from Nathan Coulter-Nile gave the Scorchers something to defend. His unbeaten 42 from just 25 balls reinforced his immeasurable talent.He struck three sixes and two fours from Ben Oakley’s last two overs. Coulter-Nile also claimed 2 for 28 with the ball to cap off an outstanding all-round display. But it was a lone hand in a losing cause as the finalists from the first two seasons slumped to their second loss of the tournament.

– A Série D é uma competição muito difícil pelo que conhecemos. Tem times muito fortes, de muita briga. Com certeza será um torneio muito complicado de se jogar, mas estamos certos e confiantes de que podemos alcançar grandes objetivos – concluiu.

اتحاد جنوب إفريقيا أعلن عبر موقعه الرسمي، إقامة بطولة دوري السوبر الإفريقي بمشاركة الأهلي، صن داونز الجنوب إفريقي، الوداد المغربي، الترجي التونسي، مازيمبي الكونغولي، إنيمبا النيجيري، سيمبا التنزاني وبترو أتليتكو الأنجولي.

وتلعب البطولة الإفريقية في أول نسخة لها، بنظام مرحلة المجموعات ثم الأدوار الإقصائية، ومن المقرر أن تجرى القرعة الرسمية للبطولة، في أوائل شهر سبتمبر المقبل.

Mahmudullah’s 12 wickets in the game, and Elias Sunny’s three in the second innings, paved the way for a 37-run win, a complete turnaround after they conceded a first innings lead.Set 310 to win, South Zone had swiftly moved to 159 for 3 on the third evening but had already lost Imrul Kayes and Anamul Haque. The pair added 113 runs for the second wicket, with Anamul making 67 and Imrul 74.Overnight batsman Mithun Ali fell to Elias Sunny early on the fourth day before Shuvagata Hom and Taibur Rahman followed him back to the pavilion before lunch.Only Ziaur Rahman struck 45 before the chase caved. South Zone were eventually bowled out for 272 runs.It was an excellent comeback for Central Zone who were well led by Mahmudullah. He took seven in the first innings in addition to the five-for in the second innings.Central Zone were bowled out for 165 runs on the first day, with South Zone’s Sohag Gazi picking up four wickets and Abdur Razzak three. South Zone then took a 65-run lead when they were bowled out for 230 runs. Mithun Ali made 88 while Mahmudullah took seven wickets.Central Zone then replied superbly, particularly Marshall Ayub, who scored 126, which is his eighth first-class ton. Razzak took four wickets in the second innings for South Zone.The BCL will continue after the three international events in Bangladesh are over. The BCB have been planning to hold the National Cricket League, the division-based first-class tournament, from early next month.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has relieved director general Javed Miandad from his services after he had asked to quit last week. Miandad’s’ resignation had been pending for the last few days and the PCB management committee, after much deliberation, decided to release one of their most expensive employees.”The members have respected Javed Miandad’s wishes by accepting his resignation with immediate effect,” Subhan Ahmed, PCB’s chief operating officer, told reporters at the National Cricket Acadamy in Lahore. “The MC has recognised and applauded Miandad’s achievements, contributions, and services not only to the PCB but also to the game of cricket.”Miandad was appointed as director general back in November 2008 but quit after two months due to differences with the board over the scope of his role. He returned to the post after a brief period and had since been working with the board. The post of director general had no prior existence in the PCB constitution and was created by Ejaz Butt in 2008 to employ Miandad.The position, however, lacked clarity and in his five-year stint, Miandad spoke openly of it being a troubleshooting role of sorts, delving into whatever areas needed fixing. He wanted to oversee the cricketing affairs and was keen to revamp the domestic structure. He had even unveiled plans for restructuring, but with Butt at the helm of the PCB, Miandad was cornered.Zaka Ashraf had given Miandad a formal administrative role to oversee domestic and international cricket, but his contribution had always remained diminished. Following uncertainty in the PCB top management in recent months, Miandad had even less work on his plate. The ongoing domestic structure in which two first-class tournaments had been introduced in 2012 was instigated by Miandad, but the PCB overhauled even this by separating the regional and department sides.With Miandad’s resignation, the PCB has decided to scrap the post of director general that has cost them more than Rs 50 million in the last five years.
