Culpa assumida

O Flamengo começou a partida dominando.

No segundo tempo, o Flamengo seguiu dominando.

Celtic board shortlist Robbie Keane as key change in style emerges

Following the news of Brendan Rodgers’ resignation, Celtic have reportedly added Robbie Keane to their shortlist of managerial candidates. The former Leeds United coach joins the likes of Ange Postecoglou as the Bhoys seek a new permanent boss.

It’s been a dramatic week for those at Celtic Park. First losing 3-1 and conceding an eight-point gap to surprise Scottish Premiership leaders Heart, those in Glasgow then received Rodgers’ shock resignation – sparking a managerial search and a brutal statement from majority shareholder Dermot Desmond.

Accusing Rodgers of being “self-serving” and “divisive”, Desmond didn’t hold back. Whether the manager, himself, soon has his own say is now the big question.

In the meantime, the show must go on at Celtic, who have hired veteran manager Martin O’Neill on an interim basis. Keeping the seat warm, O’Neill will be expected to steady the ship as soon as the Old Firm derby against Rangers this week. The Bhoys meet their rivals in the Scottish League Cup semi-final.

The longer their search for a manager goes on, however, the more questions that will be asked at Celtic. So far, names such as Postecoglou and former Borussia Dortmund man Edin Terzic have both been mentioned, with the former a particularly strong candidate thanks to his previous experience in Glasgow.

The Australian could certainly do with a return to Scotland too, following a disastrous 39-day spell at Nottingham Forest. But he’s not the only one on Celtic’s shortlist, with Keane also among the reported options.

The change of style that Robbie Keane would bring to Celtic

As reported by journalist Ben Jacobs, Keane has now made the shortlist at Celtic as they search for their next manager.

The 45-year-old is currently in charge of Hungarian side Ferencvaros and has had previous experience at Maccabi Tel Aviv as well as in an assistant role at Ireland, Middlsbrough and Leeds United.

Some may question Keane’s experience, or more the lack of it, but his style of football is something to keep an eye on. The former Liverpool and Celtic attacker told reporters in 2020 that he likes to play energetic, pressing football, which could finally unlock the Bhoys’ free-scoring talents once again.

Daizen Maeda would arguably benefit the most from the change in style from Rodgers’ slower, possession-based approach. The forward scored 33 goals in all competitions last season, before struggling with just three in 13 in the current campaign.

What’s more, the fact that O’Neill already knows Keane well from his playing days could help his case. The current interim boss once even praised his former forward as “terrific” during his time on the pitch.

Man City now open talks to sign "sensational" £168k-a-week Bayern Munich star

Manchester City have opened talks to sign a “sensational” Bayern Munich player, with the German club now “really worried” about his future.

Man City's unbeaten run comes to an end at Aston Villa

Man City’s nine-game undefeated streak in all competitions was brought to a halt on Sunday afternoon, suffering a 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa at Villa Park, with Matty Cash’s first-half strike proving to be the difference between the two sides.

Despite the loss, Pep Guardiola suggested he was happy with his side’s performance, while also insisting it is too early to be overly concerned about the Premier League title race, saying: “I don’t know how many teams can come here and play the way we played, with the courage, possession and chances.

“We have to be stable with that. And after that, to deal with games better.

“But I don’t live in October and November thinking, ‘Oh what is going to happen if we don’t win the Premier League’, so it’s game by game now.”

However, having suffered three defeats already this season, which leaves the Blues six points behind Arsenal in the table, there are clear indications Guardiola may need to strengthen his squad in order to turn them back into title contenders.

According to a report from The Boot Room, Man City have this month held discussions about signing Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano, amid the uncertainty surrounding his future at the Bundesliga club.

Upamecano is yet to extend his contract at the Allianz Arena, which means he is currently set to be available on a free transfer next summer, and that is a concern for Bayern.

Scouts sent: Man City show interest in breakout star who'd cost near £70m

The Citizens believe they have the financial clamour to complete a deal.

BySean Markus Clifford Oct 26, 2025

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey adds: “Speaking to sources at a couple of Premier League clubs, they actually believe Upamecano is more likely to stay than leave, but I can tell you Bayern are really worried that Upamecano will have offers presented to him in early 2026 if an agreement with Bayern is not reached.”

"Sensational" Upamecano could be solid addition to Pep's backline

Pep has stuck with the experienced duo of John Stones and Ruben Dias at centre-back in recent weeks, with the former managing to put his injury problems behind him, while the manager also has Nathan Ake, Josko Gvardiol and Abdukodir Khusanov to call upon.

As such, it is debatable whether it is necessary to bring in another centre-back, but the Bayern star certainly has the ability required to succeed at the Etihad Stadium, having received very high praise from journalist Muhammad Butt in the past.

Every player in a Guardiola system must be comfortable in possession of the ball, and the 27-year-old fits the bill in that regard, averaging a pass-completion rate of 93.5% per 90 over the past year, placing him in the 96th percentile, compared to other centre-backs.

Upamecano could be the ideal addition to Man City’s defence, and the £168k-a-week star potentially being available on a free transfer makes signing him an even more attractive proposition.

Canadian Little Leaguer Trolls Mets’ Juan Soto in Interview: ‘Kind of Overrated’

Sometimes, little leaguers know best.

Canada's Misha Lee recently joined ESPN for an interview during the 2025 Little League World Series and dropped a savage one-liner about Mets star Juan Soto that's going viral.

Canada is advancing in the LLWS after beating Australia, 12-0, in a statement win on Sunday. Lee, one of the members of Vancouver's Little Mountain, was asked about the possibility of meeting Soto at some point during the Little League World Series. He appeared to give a little smirk before answering:

"Eh, he's kind of overrated." Lee added that Soto was no "Cal Raleigh."

Guardians’ Emmanuel Clase, Luis Ortiz Indicted on Charges Related to Pitch Betting Scheme

Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz were indicted Sunday on various charges related to a scheme to rig bets on pitches thrown in-game, federal authorities announced.

Clase and Ortiz were placed on administrative leave during the 2025 MLB season as the league investigated the two pitchers. Ortiz was the first to be pulled from Cleveland’s lineup on July 13; Clase followed two weeks later. MLB was investigating specific pitches thrown by Clase and Ortiz in potential connection with sports betting.

Ortiz was arrested in Boston as part of the indictment. At the time of the announcement, Clase had not yet been taken into custody.

Per the indictment, Clase and Ortiz allegedly participated in a scheme to intentionally throw balls where bettors in the know could wager whether the pitch will be a ball or a strike. The scheme is said to have begun as far back as May 2023, with Clase, and Ortiz becoming involved later. Prosecutors allege Ortiz was paid $5,000 to throw a ball when on the mound on June 15th against the Mariners, and Clase was paid $5,000 as well to facilitate the scheme. On June 27, against the Cardinals, it happened again and the pair received $7,000 each for their participation. The Guardians lost both games in question.

Clase and Ortiz are facing fraud, conspiracy, and bribery charges. The indictment reads that, if convicted, they could face a maximum of 65 years in prison.

“MLB contacted federal law enforcement at the outset of its investigation and has fully cooperated throughout the process,” the league said in a statement to ESPN. “We are aware of the indictment and today's arrest, and our investigation is ongoing.”

As it currently stands, Clase and Ortiz are both on non-disciplinary paid leave from the Guardians.

Before being put on leave, Ortiz posted a 4.36 ERA with 96 strikeouts in 2025. Clase, as a closer for Cleveland, posted a 3.23 ERA in 48 games with 23 saves.

Luis Ortiz’s attorney gives statement on betting scheme charges

A few hours after Ortiz was arrested, the pitcher’s attorney gave a statement denying any wrongdoing in regard to the two pitches cited by the indictment.

£100m Trossard upgrade: Arsenal set plan to sign "one of the world's best"

While this season is shaping up to be a spectacular one for Arsenal, Sunday was a disappointment for Mikel Arteta and Co.

The Spaniard’s team looked second best in their Premier League game against then-second-placed Chelsea, and then failed to capitalise when the Blues went down to ten men.

With that said, while it was a poor showing from the Gunners, they were without a number of the best players, like William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães and just as important, Leandro Trossard.

The Belgian has been in scintillating form for Arsenal in recent months, and yet, if reports are to be believed, the club are looking to sign someone who’d be a significant upgrade.

Arsenal target Trossard upgrade

During the summer, it looked like Trossard would be leaving Arsenal, as he didn’t have a great campaign and was linked with clubs like Bayern Munich.

Transfer Focus

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.

However, the former Brighton & Hove Albion gem stayed, was handed a pay rise, and since then has played like a man possessed.

For example, it was his thunderous effort against Sunderland that ensured the Gunners left with a point, and then against Tottenham Hotspur, he scored and assisted a goal.

However, even with performances such as these, it looks like the North Londoners are looking to sign an upgrade on the 30-year-old.

At least that is according to a recent report from TEAMtalk, which claims Arsenal are interested in Michael Olise.

In fact, the report goes further, revealing that the club have placed the Frenchman at the top of their wishlist for next year and, with Sporting Director Andrea Berta, are already laying the groundwork for the deal.

However, it won’t be a cheap transfer to get over the line, with the report claiming that it will cost in excess of £100m to convince Bayern Munich to sell their star attacker.

Even so, given Olise’s immense ability and further potential, this is a deal Arsenal should be going all out for, especially as he’d be a significant upgrade on Trossard.

How Olise compares to Trossard

So the first thing to get out of the way is that, yes, Olise is primarily a right-sided player, and Trossard plays mostly on the left.

However, Arteta has made it quite clear with the signing of Noni Madueke that he is more than happy to play wingers on the opposite flank, and given the Frenchman’s immense ability, it feels like he should have no problem playing out there.

Moreover, when the former Chelsea ace has played in the team, he and Bukayo Saka have swapped sides back and forth during games, which suggests the manager has almost moved beyond the idea of a wide player starting and sticking to a position as matches progress.

With all that said, why would the former Crystal Palace star, who shone with Eberechi Eze in South London, be an upgrade on the Belgian?

Well, the first and most important reason is the simple fact that he is a far more potent goal threat, be that through scoring or assisting them.

A “magician” – according to Bayern teammate Dayot Upamecano – in 20 appearances this season, totalling 1583 minutes, he’s scored nine goals and provided ten assists, which comes out to an average of a goal involvement every 1.05 games, or every 83.31 minutes.

In contrast, the former Brighton star has scored five goals and provided five assists in 16 appearances, totalling 948 minutes, which averages out to a goal involvement every 1.6 games, or every 94.8 minutes.

The second reason is that, at just 23 years old, the 13-capped international has far more upside than the 30-year-old and should even improve in the coming seasons.

Finally, on top of his better output, the former Reading man also comes out on top when you take a look under the hood at their underlying numbers.

Ultimately, Trossard is a brilliant player, but Olise is clearly superior in practically every way and more than justifies Oliver Glasner’s claim that he’s “one of the best talents in the world.”

Therefore, even if it costs a king’s ransom, Arsenal should do all they can to sign him in 2026.

John Souttar dealt "really bad news" as Rangers made to sweat over injury blow

After John Souttar was forced to miss Scotland’s dramatic victory over Denmark earlier this week, Rangers have been left to sweat over his availability ahead of their clash against Livingston this weekend.

It was about as dramatic as it gets for Scotland as they booked their place at the 2026 World Cup. What started with an incredible Scott McTominay overhead kick to send them into dreamland soon transcended into a nightmare when the 10 men of Denmark equalised once through Rasmus Hojlund and then a second time through Patrick Dorgu late on.

It looked as though history was about to repeat itself and Scotland were destined to miss out on automatic qualification, until the ball fell the way of Kieran Tierney. Even Rangers fans may have cheered the Celtic hero as he found the back of the net to send Scotland to the World Cup, before Kenny McLean’s halfway-line goal ended an absurd evening.

Celebrations will no doubt go on, but the rivalries will also return with the action in the Scottish Premiership as Rangers aim to continue their turnaround under Danny Rohl.

The Gers are set to play host to Livingston on Saturday afternoon in an attempt to make it four wins from four under Rohl in the Scottish Premiership and continue to close the gap on shock league leaders Hearts.

Rangers teenager was their next Igamane in the making but he left for £0

Rangers must regret losing this young star who could have been their next Hamza Igamane at Ibrox.

By
Dan Emery

Nov 18, 2025

The German manager has already picked up more league points than Russell Martin did, which highlights just how disastrous the former manager was at Ibrox, but could yet run into his first problem this weekend.

In amongst the celebrations in Scotland, Souttar was forced to miss out on a starting place after suffering an injury in the warm-up in what should be a concern for Rangers.

Rangers handed fresh John Souttar concern

As confirmed live on Sky Sports News by Gail Davis ahead of Scotland’s victory over Denmark, Souttar picked up an injury in the warm-up and has handed Rangers a fresh injury concern ahead of their return to action this weekend.

Scotland were able to replace Souttar with the experienced Grant Hanley, but the Gers are unlikely to have the same luck. The central defender has started all but one game for Rangers so far this season and remains one of their most important players.

At a time when their fortunes are beginning to turn, the last thing that those at Ibrox need is an injury to such an influential player. Unless they receive some positive news, however, the Gers must find a replacement for Souttar.

Described as “excellent” by former Scotland manager Craig Levein, there’s no doubt that Rangers need the defender to make a return to action as soon as possible.

Rounding the Bases: MLB Straight Up Picks for Every Game Today (How to Bet Braves-Diamondbacks on Monday)

The July 4 holiday is behind us, and while many people return to work to begin this week, there are several MLB teams that have an off day on Monday.

That leaves us with just seven games to bet today, but as always as SI Betting, we're going to share a moneyline bet for every single matchup.

There are a few series that are wrapping up on Monday, and a few starting, including the Arizona Diamondbacks taking on the Atlanta Braves in the late game on the slate.

New York Mets vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction and Pick

Pittsburgh Pirates starter Mitch Keller struggled in his last two outings, giving up 10 runs (eight earned) to push his ERA to 3.48 on the season. However, I still think he gives the Pirates the advantage in this one.

Pittsburgh is 11-6 straight up when Keller is on the mound, and he's allowed two or fewer runs in seven of his last 10 starts. Meanwhile, New York Mets starter Christian Scott comes into this game with a 4.32 ERA, and New York is just 1-5 in his six starts.

Pittsburgh is in a prime spot to win the series finale tonight.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Washington Nationals Prediction and Pick

This is a great spot for the Washington Nationals, as youngster Mitchell Parker (a lefty) should have a chance to shut down a St. Louis Cardinals lineup that is 29th in the league in OPS.

Miles Mikolas (5.19 ERA) gets the ball for St. Louis, and the Cards are just 8-10 in his 18 starts. I love the Nationals to pick up a win at home in this one.

Cleveland Guardians vs. Detroit Tigers Prediction and Pick

Neither Gavin Williams or Keider Montero has pitched well — or pitched much — in the 2024 season, so I'm going to roll with the team that has been better in 2024.

The Guardians still lead the AL Central division with a 56-32 record and plus-97 run differential while the Tigers are just minus-19 in their run differential this season. I expect them to grab a win on Monday.

Colorado Rockies vs. Cincinnati Reds Prediction and Pick

Cincinnati is a must bet in this spot at home.

The Colorado Rockies are just 5-12 in Ryan Feltner's outings this season — he's posted a 1-7 record of his own — and Cincy has Andrew Abbott (8-6, 3.28 ERA) on the mound.

Back the Reds to snap their three-game skid tonight.

Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction and Pick

My favorite trends in Major League Baseball is back in action tonight.

Chicago White Sox starter Chris Flexen is on the mound against the Minnesota Twins, and the White Sox are just 2-16 when he pitches in 2024. So, we're betting the Twins — even though they've yet to announce a starter — on Monday.

Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Angels Prediction and Pick

Davis Daniel is making just his third start of the season for the Los Angeles Angels, but I think he's in a prime spot to lead the Angels to an upset win.

The Texas Rangers have struggled on the road (18-27 straight up) this season, and starter Jon Gray has allowed nine, zero, eight and three runs over his last four starts. Gray's ERA has ballooned to 3.92 after he entered his June 17 start with a 2.17 mark.

I'll roll with the Angels at home in this one.

Atlanta Braves vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction and Pick

Chris Sale is on the mound for the Atlanta Braves, and that's been a great sign all season long, as he's posted a 2.71 and has led the Braves to an 11-5 record in his starts.

Yilber Diaz will make his Major League debut for the D-Backs in a tough spot against a Braves offense that is one of the best in baseball.
